Real Madrid midfielder Isco ran riot as Spain chased a Lionel Messi-less Argentina out of town in an international friendly staged at the Estadio Wanda Metropolitano on Tuesday.
Spain was 2-1 up at the break thanks to goals from Diego Costa and Isco, while Nicolas Otamendi had pulled one back for the South Americans.
Isco extended La Furia Roja's lead, seven minutes after the break with Celta Vigo's Iago Aspas claiming the assist.
Thiago Alcantara and Aspas scored within 16 minutes to put the game to bed before Isco completed the rout for his hat-trick with a right-footed finish to drub La Albiceleste 6-1 in a one-sided affair.
Diego Costa led the line for Spain against a Lionel Messi-less Argentina, while Marco Asensio was also handed a start.
Costa, restored to the starting line-up for the first time in a year, gave the hosts the lead with a neat finish past Sergio Romero.
The collision between the two was to force the Manchester United goalkeeper off with injury, replaced by Willy Caballero, but despite sustaining a knock the Atletico Madrid striker carried on.
Gonzalo Higuain had previously wasted a glorious chance for the visitors and Argentina who were without their talismanic captain, Lionel Messi - were made to pay for their wastefulness when Isco doubled the lead in the 26th minute.
The playmaker found the net after being found by his Real Madrid teammate Marco Asensio in a sweeping move.
Jorge Sampaoli’s side pulled a goal back six minutes from the break as Nicolas Otamendi lost Sergio Ramos at a corner to head home past David De Gea, who will be disappointed not to have done more.
