Spanish goalkeeper Kepa has the honour to be the most expensive goalkeeper in history. The 23-year-old Spanish international will be completing a move to Chelsea for a reported €80m from Athletic Bilbao. Spanish club Athletic have announced on their official website that the club has agreed a deal with Chelsea for the Spanish goalkeeper. Kepa will be undergoing a medical in London on Wednesday and could be completing his move on the same day. It is claimed that Kepa will be offered a five-year deal by Chelsea.
The fact that Chelsea have signed Kepa will be a relief for Thibaut Courtois, who wishes to leave Stamford Bridge this summer. With the transfer of the Spanish goaltender about to be completed on Wednesday, Courtois has been given the green light to complete his transfer to Real Madrid. It is believed that the goalkeeper already has agreed on a five-year deal at the Spanish giants.
