Absence of judge stalls Evans' trial

Related image
The trial of Chukwudumeme Onwuamadike, suspected kidnap kingpin better known as Evans, was stalled on Friday owing to the absence of the judge in court.
On Monday, Oluwatoyin Taiwo, the presiding judge at the Ikeja high court, Lagos, was also absent as she was attending an event to mark the new legal year.
Evan’s trial was also stalled on September 11 due to the absence of the prosecution witness, a police inspector, who was said to be engaged elsewhere.
Evans is facing charges bordering on conspiracy to kidnap, kidnapping and attempted murder.
In the first charge, Evans is standing trial alongside Joseph Emeka, Ugochukwu Nwachukwu and Victor Aduba.
In the second charge, he is standing trial alongside Emeka, Linus Okpara and Aduba.
The case has been adjourned till November 5.
Evans, described by the police as the “most notorious kidnapper” in Nigeria, was arrested at his Magodo residence in June 2017.
