The president of Small-Scale Women Farmers Organisation in Nigeria (SWOFON), Kwara chapter, Mrs Abosede Anifowose on Monday called for the support of the state government in its various agricultural development programmes.
Speaking in an interview, she urged the government to consider the association for assistance in the various agricultural development schemes, adding that, women farmers in the state were facing a lot of challenges, thereby restricting their growth and development.
Anifowose pointed out that lack of accessible roads to farmland, inadequate storage facilities and lack of capacity building opportunities among others, are major impediments facing the association.
According to her, ”Women farmers do not have sufficient fund, adequate mobility, which if available, will move the organisation to greater heights.
“We want the government to recognize the association and consider it always for assistance in the agricultural development schemes in the state.
“This is why we formed the association to be able to get recognition and assistance from the government,”
