Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane has confirmed that Manchester United have contacted him ahead of a possible move to Old Trafford at the end of this season.
The 24-year-old French defender joined Los Blancos from Lens in 2011 under coach Jose Mourinho, and he’s set to reunite with his former coach should the deal pull through this summer.
According to Sportskeeda, the France international admits that no official contact has been made by the Red Devils.
Varane said: "No, not directly. There were contacts, but not directly."
Varane, speaking to L’Equipe, said: “I had a special relationship with Mourinho.
Many perceive these comments as an invitation for the Portuguese manager to launch a summer bid though Real Madrid would not easily let go of one their priced assets as Varane has formed a tight partnership with club captain Sergio Ramos at the heart of the Los Blancos defence.
