Following 15 months of courtship prior to the royal wedding, Prince Harry and actress Meghan Markel on Saturday pledged to “honour and protect” each other in marriage.
A gospel choir sang Ben E King’s ‘Stand by Me’ as the couple, beaming with smiles, stood inside St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle, to exchange their vows.
The highly anticipated wedding between the Duke and Duchess of Sussex has kept millions on the edge of their seats for weeks.
The spectacular ceremony was heavily attended by some of the biggest celebrities in the world.
The wedding was witnessed live by 600 guests while a crowd of over 10,000 fans and well-wishers cheered on from outside.
“You look amazing… I’m so lucky,” Harry said to Markle as she reached the altar.
The presiding bishop, Michael Bruce Curry, who hails from Chicago, delivered a fiery, passionate and moving sermon/speech about love.
Since Markle was not born a royal, her title as a princess becomes her husband’s name so she’ll formally be known as Her Royal Highness Princess Harry of Wales.
An estimated one billion people are said to have tuned in to watch the royal wedding on television.
