Following an Abuja Federal High Court sentencing of Senator Joshua Dariye, a former Plateau State Governor to 14 years imprisonment on misapplication of his state ecological fund while in office as Governor, about 10 senatorial aspirants have indicated their interest to participate in fresh elections at Plateau central senatorial district to elect a new senator to represent Plateau central at the upper chamber of the National Assembly.
Hot contenders to replace Dariye at the senate is Nde Alexander Molwus of the Peoples Democratic Party who came 2nd to Dariye during the 2015 Peoples Democratic party Senatorial primaries.
Others are Plateau former speaker of the state House of Assembly, Hon Emmanuel Goar, Senator Sati Gogwin, former comptroller of Immigration service Paradang , Hon Istifanus Mwansat,Plateau former speaker and a former permanent secretary in the state cvil service Isaac Wadak, all from the Peoples Democratic party.
Similarly, the ruling party in the state, the All Progressive Congress ,a party that Dariye defected to before he was sent to jail is not left out of the race as the APC leadership in the state under the chairmanship of Letep Dabang have been holding series of meetings with party stakeholders to pick a credible candidate to could win the forth coming Plateau central senatorial polls on a date INEC is expected to fix for fresh election after 90 days of Dariye's vacation of his seat at the national Assembly .
