Suspected bandits have sacked 10 communities in Mada, a town in Gusau local government area of Zamfara state.
This is the latest in the persistent attack in the northwest.
At least 200 bandits were said to have descended on the communities, rustling cows and other animals and forcing villagers to flee.
One person was reportedly killed during the incident, which took place on June 6.
The villages where the attack occurred are Fura Girke, Majira, Kanawa, Yargeba, Takoka, Bargaja, Bundungel, Bantsa, Unguwar Matanda and Makera.
Ibrahim Wakkala, deputy governor of Zamfara, who visited the displaced people, appealed to the federal government for support.
He expressed dismay at the way the bandits rendered residents of the communities, particularly women and children homeless.
Wakkala said a committee had been set up by the state government to ascertain the level of damage.
He pleaded with security agencies in the state to intensify efforts in tackling the activities of the bandits.
Zamfara has witnessed several attacks om recent times.
Apart from the killings, the attackers often burn houses and sometimes kidnap for ransom.
