The Benue State chapter of the All Progressives Congress has said it is not in a hurry to announce any punitive measure against Governor Samuel Ortom, or any member of the party following the face-off between him and the leader of the party in the state, Senator George Akume.
The party’s Director of Publicity in the state, Mr. Peterhot Apeh, who stated this in an interview with SUNDAY PUNCH on Friday, explained that the state chapter of the party was waiting for the national headquarters to arrive at a decision before any action could be taken against the governor.
Ortom had, on Monday, said he was already out of the APC because some leaders of the party in the state had issued him a “red card.”
But Apeh said the decision of the NWC was supreme and would determine whether Ortom would leave the party or not.
He said, “We hope that the two warriors (Akume and Ortom) will resolve their differences in good time. However, the Benue APC is ready to take its decision based on the NWC’s final position on the issue.
“As a party, we embrace these two individuals as members of the party. We are not going to take sides with anyone.
“We will welcome the decision of our national headquarters now that they (leaders) have decided to wade in and we hope that it will be resolved soon.”
