The Dauda Adegbenro Foundation (DAF) says nominations can now be submitted for the 2018 edition of its best political correspondent and media/broadcast house award.
According to the organisers, the award is designed to bring recognition to the media and political correspondents for their role in sustaining the growth of the democratic practice in Nigeria and to promote increased interest in developmental journalism in Nigeria.
In nominating a candidate, the nominator is expected to attach the material/work of his nominee which is expected to focus on the promotion and defence of the principles of a free and democratic society and good governance in Nigeria.
For the media house, a list of the political stories covered which focused on free and democratic society and good governance and dates they were published along with copies of the publications and clips is required.
All nominations must be sent on or before May 15 to laniyi.yusuf@verraki.com and balabidun@yahoo.com
The award will comprise a cash prize of N100,000 for the winner of the best political correspondent, a special plaque and a special plaque for the best media/broadcast house in the coverage of political events.
Organisers say a senior editor with integrity will assess the nominations and select the candidate(s)and the media for the awards.
Nominees must be Nigerian, practise journalism in Nigeria. Recommendations for the best political correspondent award must have his speciality in political reporting.
