Due to incessant Boko Haram attacks, kidnappings, armed banditry, communal clashes and other crimes in Adamawa State, the state police command has banned the use of motorcycles in all the 21 local government areas of the state till further notice.
In a press statement signed by the command’s spokesman, Othman Abubakar, a superintendent of police, said the ban was informed by rising crime across the state.
“This has become necessary because of the incessant use of such motorcycles in committing heinous crimes such as Boko Haram attacks, kidnappings, armed banditry, communal clashes and other criminal activities in the state,” he said.
The statement enjoined the people of the state to be law abiding, support and cooperate with the police.
The command warned that it would go out on an aggressive patrol and arrest defaulters of the directive.
