Victor Moses has declared that the Super Eagles have a long way to go in order to achieve success in the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.
The Chelsea star also admitted that Croatia were a better side than Nigeria in the 2-0 loss at the Kaliningrad stadium on Saturday.
An own goal by Oghenekaro Etebo in the first half and a second-half penalty from Luka Modric sealed the win for Croatia.
“We have a long way to go. Iceland are a very good side,” Moses told TheCable after the match.
“We have quality players individually to go out there to win the game. We have a young side. It’s not how young or old. Football is football. We need to work hard collectively and win the next game.
“Croatia have a lot of talented players with Champions League experience week in week out. That showed today (Saturday). If you look at the way they organised themselves it tells a lot. We were organised as well but obviously, the goal they scored was unlucky for us.
“We kept going and did the best we could do but Croatia are very good side. They kept the ball. I don’t really know whether it was a penalty or not. When I spoke to Troost-Ekong he said that there was a touch.
“Obviously the referee made the final decision. They had a penalty and scored from it. We are looking forward to the next game against Iceland. We need to win our next two games and move forward. We need to shift our focus to the Iceland game and put things right.”
